Photography is more than simply
taking pictures. For me it is an opportunity to express the
way I view the world. For Henri Cartier-Bresson it was about
capturing the moment; for Robert Mapplethorpe it was about finding
the perfect light. Henri and Robert are my role models. I hope
you enjoy my work.
My photographic background includes architectural, aerial, advertising,
commercial, catalog, documentary, event, editorial, fine art,
photojournalism, and portraiture. I use digital cameras for
most of my work, but stay in touch with fine-art black &
white film photography.
I've received my share of honors and awards over the years;
here are some of my favorites:
· Studio Photography
Magazine--One of the top 25 photographers of the past
25 years
· Dallas Press
Club--Katie
Award for Best Photographic Portfolio
· Dallas 2012 Olympic Bid Committee--Official
Photographer
· Volunteer Center of North Texas--Photographer
of Choice
· Dallas Observer, 2003--Best
Photographic Resource
· Dallas Corn-Dog Festival--Official Photographer
Since
1980 I've taught photography in various institutions including
Eastfield College, Southern Methodist University, Mesquite ISD,
FunEd, Texins Assn., and Dallas
Darkroom. I've conducted workshops and given lectures at
Texas A&M at Commerce and the University of Texas.
My
current project is a series of black & white images made
with a Holga, an inexpensive all-plastic film camera. I live
in Old East Dallas and enjoy riding my bike around White Rock
Lake with my wife Dianne.
